What is Appamaton?
Appamaton is a tiny, dependency-free web app (plain HTML and vanilla JS, no build step) that turns a one-line idea into a complete mini-PWA.
Type what you want (e.g. "Pomodoro timer with work and break cycles"), hit ✨ Generate app, and in about half a minute you get a working live preview plus a downloadable .zip ready to host anywhere.
Built for one workflow: on your phone, while walking, turn an idea into a simple app.
How it works
- You describe the app (or tap a suggestion chip).
- The Appamaton server makes an OpenAI-compatible streaming call to the model on your behalf and runs it as a background job — so you can leave the app or lock your phone; your result waits for you. While you watch, you see 🤔 Thinking… → ✍️ Writing… with a live tail of the output.
- The model returns exactly five files under a strict output contract; the server parses them tolerantly and validates the manifest. If the answer gets truncated, it retries once automatically.
- You get a file list, a live preview of the generated app running in an iframe, and ⬇️ Download .zip.
- Not happy? Use the 🔁 Refine box to ask for changes; the whole app is regenerated with your feedback, keeping existing behavior and data intact (v2, v3, …).
What's in a generated app?
| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
index.html | Complete page with inline mobile-first CSS (light/dark), manifest link, service worker registration |
app.js | Vanilla JS; all data in localStorage; works fully offline |
manifest.webmanifest | PWA manifest (name, colors, icons) |
sw.js | Minimal cache-first service worker |
icon.svg | Model-generated vector icon; rasterized to PNG client-side (with a letter/emoji fallback) |
To use one: unzip it into any static web host and open it over HTTP(S). For an installable PWA on your phone, host it over HTTPS and use the browser's "Add to Home Screen".
Your data
- No accounts, no setup: an app token is pre-configured in the app (visible/overridable under ⚙️) and Appamaton's server does the rest.
- Generation goes from your phone to the Appamaton server, which calls the model endpoint. Finished results are kept on the server for 24 hours so you can come back and collect them; after that they're gone.
- Your app token and your "Recent apps" history live only in this browser's
localStorage.
Notes & limits
- Over plain HTTP everything works, but phones won't offer to install the app as a home-screen PWA; that requires HTTPS.
- Typical generation time is ~25–45 s: the model thinks first, then writes.
- Recent apps keeps the last 10; reopen previews or re-download zips anytime.
